Why Four Star Engineering?

Four Star Engineering possesses the highly advanced equipment required to create, modify, analyse and optimise your designs for the creation of a plastic injection moulding tool.

5 Axis Machining

The benefit of 5 Axis machining over 3 axis is that undercuts can be machined in one setup and smaller details within deep pockets can be achieved in one setup.

Four Star Engineering CNC Machining Services

Our skilled machinists can make turned and milled parts using a wide range of plastic and metal materials.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

  • What is CNC machining?
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is the process of using pre-programmed software to control the movement of cutting tools in order to transfer a three dimensional CAD design into physical reality within the mould material. Four Star Engineering possesses the highly advanced equipment required to create, modify, analyse and optimise your designs for the creation of an injection moulding tool.
  • How much does CNC machining cost?
Four Star Engineering can quote to provide an overall cost for your project, or costs can be based on a negotiated hourly rate.
  • How long does CNC machining take?
Four Star Engineering endeavours to complete all work as efficiently as possible, but in this case we need to discuss your project before committing to a duration.

  • What is the difference between 3 axis and 5 axis CNC?
3 Axis CNC machining involves the traditional method of machining objects in three main axis: X; Y; and Z.

5 Axis machining adds 2 additional axis: tilting of the machine head (B Axis) ; and rotation of the machine head (C Axis). The benefit of 5 Axis machining over 3 axis is that undercuts can be machined in one setup and smaller details within deep pockets can be achieved in one setup. This reduces cost and lead time and may avoid additional processes later on.
